Reflections of 2007 and looking forward to 2008:
Over the Holiday Season of 2007 I was quite blessed to complete three commissions: The Hartman Season Series, Jen and Her Ladies and Sophie and Claire’s Nighttime Escape that are all located in the Commission Section of this website. Each painting was equally challenging as well as a highly rewarding experience. I find such joy in creating a world that captures something that a person really loves being apart of. This entire process from start to finish is what I truly find to be amazing in that I can give and create that for them. On another note I was awarded second prize in the Manny’s Annual Ornament Contest in New Paltz, I am truly grateful that I was chosen. Finally Unison Arts and Learning Center has asked me to be the Coordinator of their Gallery at Water Street Market. I am looking forward to all of the shows that will take place in 2008.

The 1st Annual Hudson Valley Holiday Small Works Show (12/15/07- 1/13/08):
This juried exhibition of works by Hudson Valley Artists which included a selection of paintings, drawing, photographs, prints, drawing, mixed media, glass and ceramic works all under 12″ in dimension. The two pieces that I entered are entitled: “Self with Striped Socks” and “Kristopher speaking Russian with Carrots.” These were mixed media on Library Catalogue Cards that are listed in my Illustration Section of the website. My good friends Hester Keith and Kathleen Petrillo were also included in this show at the G.A.S. (Gallery and Studio) 196 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY.

Small Works Open Members Show at the Art Society of Kingston: (12/1-29/07):
I submitted three encaustic pieces that are in this juried group show. You can view them in my paintings section of the website. The opening is on the First Saturday of December and will be up until the 29th of the same month. Postcards from the Edge Benefit: Opening (December 1st, 2007) in NYC:
Kristopher Hedley and myself are included in the 10th annual Postcards from the Edge Benefit at the James Cohan Gallery (www.jamescohan.com) located at 533 W. 26th Street (between 10th & 11th Avenues). Visual Arts invited established and emerging artists to donate a 4″ x 6″ original work on paper for their exhibition and sale. All works are $75 and are sold on a first come, first-served basis. All works are signed on the back and exhibited so that the artist’s signatures cannot be seen. While buyers have a list of participating artists, they do not know who created which piece until it is purchased and the signature is revealed. This is a great event and cause, please come out buy some art!

Art House Co-op (www.arthousecoop.com/site/) is an artist’s collective that called for entries for their sketch book project (www.thesketchbookproject.com) where they mailed out 500 Moleskine Sketchbooks to artists all over the country and asked them to fill their sketchbook any way that they wanted with “Fear” as the theme. So I decided to join up and do one myself. My theme for the sketch book is The Fear of Giant Cupcakes, when the work is completed there will be images on the site. Also as luck will have it I will be Atlanta the same weekend (Oct. 27th) on a business trip so I will be able to go to the opening.
